Stephen Arnold
Aug.11,1949 - Oct. 24,2015
Walnut Creek
Stephen Emil Arnold passed away suddenly at home in late October, 2015. He was 66. A longtime resident of Lafayette and Moraga, he was born on August 11, 1949 in Charleston, West Virginia. After graduating St. Albans High School, he went on to obtain his BA and MBA from The University of Virginia. He had successful careers in both banking and financial planning.
Steve's greatest joy in life was his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Grace Arnold, and his brother, Larry. He leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Sandra Burn Arnold, his son, Taylor Edward Arnold, and his daughter, Katharine Grace Arnold. He was an avid reader, a talented musician and sailor, and had many diverse interests which satisfied his intellectual curiosity.
Both an Eagle and God and Country Boy Scout, he was proud of his son following in his footsteps. He was a troop leader in Lafayette. His children's sports activities were also dear to his heart. He coached LMYA baseball, soccer, and basketball, and was active with the Springbrook Swim Team.
Steve was a gentle man and a gentleman, with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a loving and great husband, father, and friend, and will be sorely missed.
On June 18, 2016, his wife and children will scatter his ashes on his beloved San Francisco Bay, followed by a small, private Celebration of Life ceremony in Berkeley. May he rest in peace. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/eastbaytimes/obituary.aspx?pid=180351621#sthash.HGbfJyWh.dpuf

What a wonderful tribute to "Emil."  He lived just up the hill from me and we were friends starting at Central Grade School.  We worked at Carbide the summer after our freshman year in college, side by side packing cans of Preston antifreeze into boxes, 16 hour shifts, 6 days a week.  You get really close when you spend that amount of time together, and we talked about everything.  Unfortunately, I never saw Steve again after that summer.  It's comforting to know that he had such a productive and happy life, and that he had a great family who loved him.  Thanks for posting this, Mary Ann.
